Tucson, AZ/Albany, NY July 2010 - What a way to celebrate the Fourth of July - Musical Fireworks!!
Funzalo Records is ecstatic about signing Albany, NY based band, SIRSY. Known as the little band with the big sound, Melanie Krahmer and Rich Libutti sound like 10 people on stage and leave audiences breathless with their over the top indie pop and amazing musicianship. "I saw them last year and thought they were most exciting live band since we managed the North Mississippi All-Stars," says Owner/President, Mike Lembo.
SIRSY already has an impressive tour history as they play more than 200 shows a year. They've maintained countless social networking sites, managed to record their own music, and they even bootlegged themselves!
Here are a few tracks from Revolution (re-mixed by the legendary Paul Kolderie;Radiohead, Hole, Martin Sexton, Pixies).
- Revolution - title track - is the opening track for the highly acclaimed Œgreen film‚, So Right, So Smart, starring Darryl Hanna, Bare Naked Ladies, and Guster among others.)

Brian Lopez Solo EP "EL BLANCO" is now available.

2009 was an extremely productive and creative year for Mostly Bears front man, Brian López. In addition to touring and writing with Mostly Bears, and touring Europe with French chanteuse Marianne Dissard; Brian joined up with Sergio Mendoza Y La Orkesta (playing a great show at L.A’s Wiltern Theater with X in Dec. 09), jammed onstage with Calexico, John Doe and a plethora of talent, and has collaborated with an amazing group of musicians, including the renowned musician/painter Salvador Duran (Iron & Wine, Calexico) for his solo project...
In 2010, there will be three live EP’s; El Rojo, El Blanco and El Verde. El Blanco is the second EP. Funzalo plans to release the trio over the next 6 months in advance of his studio album which will be released late summer/early fall. Funzalo will use the EPs to raise awareness of this artist before his debut. Mostly Bears will also be releasing their sophmore album later in 2010!

Both albums are now available for sale at the Funzalo Records STORE.

Brian has been nominated for Artist Of The Year in the Tucson Weekly's Annual Tammie Awards. Click on the image above to vote for Brian Lopez and Mostly Bears!
The Coal Men

Each week on the Funzalo Records site blog, and on our Facebook and various netoworking sites, we are going to feature a few questions and answers from musicians, producers, promoters, agents, etc – interesting people that we work with.
We’ve started out with Dave Coleman, lead singer and guitarist of the exceptionally talented Nashville band, The Coal Men. Dave kindly took time to answer some questions we had for him – here’s an except – if you want to read the whole piece, visit www.funzalorecords.com or be our friend on Facebook. Currently The Coal Men are writing for their new CD and doing gigs around the right hand side of the US. Befriend them to find out when they’ll be in your town!
Q….. What is the cheesiest guilty pleasure album you own and listen to?
The cheesiest guilty pleasure album we travel with is Diamond David Lee Roth's Eat'em and Smile. We also dig old Alabama (grew up with it I guess).
Q. …What's the best thing about touring?
The best thing about touring is seeing folks again and again, but in different places. The encouragement we get from different friends we meet along the road is why we are able to keep doing this after 11 years. Another great thing is Hitch, Dave and I are great friends. The music, writing, recording, and all the miles in the van and planes have made us close friends. I call it a family.
Q….. Best thing you can cook - and the recipe......
I don't cook a whole lot but I do enjoy making shishkabobs on the grill. It's fun to cut'em all up and throw them on the grill with white rice as a side. 2 peppers (yellow and red), mushrooms, pineapple, onions, and cheap steak. Choppem up into inch cubes skewer them and pile them on the grill. Serve them up with mexican juritto soda. Pretty fun and you get your veggies.
Tony Furtado

Tony is busy writting new material for his upcoming album as well as playing shows around the country. Stay tunned for new songs as well as a new website that will showcase Tony's other artistsic talent of sculpting. Tony is a talented artist and a new website will be up soon that will showcase his various sculptures and artworks so stay tunned for more info.
And now for some chat from Tony Furtado. Tony is currently working on his 15th album (no title yet) in Portland, working on his sculpture and playing lots of shows (Tony is the original road dog!). Here’s a taste of Tony’s 2 cents…….
Q…. So you are working on your 15th album - how's it going- and what's different about recording this CD?
Its going great! I’m so psyched to be recording it in Portland. This marks the first time Ive ever recorded an album in my home town! Its great to be able to drive to the studio, record, drive home and sleep in my own bed. Also, Im so happy to be able to tap the great talent of Portland to play and sing on this album. This album will definitely have some of that "Portland sound"...hmmm, whatever that is...? Great to be able to get some of my friends involved on this too.
Q… Red or white wine? Red...Pinot or Zin
Q. … Is there any instrument you don't know how to play that you wish you could?
Piano. Ive always thought that would be a good thing to really know how to play. We have one at the house, and Ive written a song on it, but when I sit and pound the keys, I really dont know what the Hell Im doing.
