News Item Posted: July 28, 2008
While everyone is vacationing at the beach, here’s what’s going on at Funzalo Records and Mike’s Management.
Tony Furtado
Tony is playing with his band and doing solo concerts for the summer at festivals in beautiful resort areas throughout the country. In between all the touring and interviewing, Tony is putting finishing touches on his new album with Sean Slade. Look for the CD in late summer, early fall and Tony doing a national tour to promote the album.
Mostly Bears
The band continues their national tour for their new album The Ed Mitchell Clinic. They’ve won over fans in places like Vegas and San Francisco and are returning home to play a few dates in Arizona before continuing across country to all the big cities and small towns through September. Even playing Brooklyn!
Voting is still open for the 2008 Zig-Zag Live competition until the end of July and Mostly Bears are finalists. So vote – go to Zig-Zag Live.com, click “Vote Now”, enter your birthday and email address, and select the box next to Mostly Bears.
Mostly Bears are up for the Best Band award in this year's Tammies, Tucson's version of the Grammy's. Geoff and Brian are also up for individual awards.
The Mother Truckers
The song “Dynamite” from their new album “Let’s All Go To Bed” says it all. This band is blowing up at radio, on tour and in record stores everywhere. They just finished doing the Chicago Folk and Roots Festival and are heading East. Look for them in NYC on August 1st at the Cutting room and at lots of hot clubs and festivals in between.
On September 3rd, The Mother Truckers hit Hollywood! Funzalo Records and Adam& Eve/Zero Tolerance Ent. are hosting a party at the Roxy in LA to highlight the release of TMT’s two videos for the songs “Dynamite” and “Let’s All Go To Bed” The songs appear in the film RollerDollz to be released in September by Adam&Eve Films ZeroTolerance Ent. The movie features Penthouse Pets and high energy real roller derby action from the Glendale, Ca roller derby team. The TMT videos feature the actresses from the film and members of the TX Roller Derby Assoc.
The band will perform, Hunnypot is the DJ, and Watusi Radio is doing the intro. and the stars of the film will attend for a night of raunchy Rock & RollerDollz!
Jules Shear
Look for Jules M. Shear’s new album MORE on radio this month. Dog lovers will think the highlight of the CD is Jules beagle dog “Cosmo” on the cover. The album title “More” says it all – it’s a more meatier, more aggressive album for Shear incorporating his gift for lyrics and melody with an edgier sound.
Joined by producer Paul Kolderie (Spacehog, Radiohead) on bass, Dresden Dolls drummer Brian Viglione, and Anthony Saffery (Cornershop, The Lemonheads) on guitar, Jules worked with producer/engineer Sean Slade to create songs like Comin’Back and The Tide Had Turned containing the famous Jules Shear hooks. Watch for an in depth interview with Cosmo about the CD coming soon.
Luca
Nick Luca is working on his new album with his band and writing songs. He finds time in between to play some venues, record and produce some sessions. We are all waiting for the next creative project from this multi-talented artist.
Congratulations to Paul Olson!

Quit Smoking So Much Pot and Go Back to School (mostly bears blog) Monday, Oct 29, 2007
"(In an Australian accent) Oye! Does this mean anything to you" the Aussie shouted, getting out of his plush Ford Mustang, pointing at his brake-lights.
"What the fuck is this fool talking about, is he saying that I hit his car?" I thought to myself, waiting for the Aussie to move his car so I could take the parking space that was rightfully mine..... Read more>>
The 1st Annual Creepy Man Olympics Monday, Sept 10, 2007
Ever since I can remember (my memory can only track back to 5-8 minutes) i have wanted to put on a "creepy man olympics." it all started when, about 3 minutes ago, I leaned over to smell an unsuspecting Nicole's (our new publiscist) hair. I took a big whiff of her sweet curly black locks as she was frantically typing on her laptop. I then quickly scooted my chair back over to my desk and began typing again-- nicole never being the wiser. .... Read more>>
