Consulting

The following is a brief overview of what Funzalo Marketing and Management Services can accomplish when hired as a consultant. Mike Lembo has over 40 years of experience in the music business, and will be able to create a custom marketing/management plan to fit your needs. The scope of work is not limited to what is contained below; each campaign can be tailored to the needs of the artist, manager or label. Overall, this is a way to create awareness of an artist who needs to build a strong fan base, or gain credibility in the indie market. We can take what your artist(s) have done regionally and expand upon it, or help with the development of a new artist.

• Create customized electronic press kits for the artist. Our graphic designer has 15 years of experience in both web design and graphic design. We can help keep your website updated and create digital content for your social media sites. We can also help you set up and manage digital and hard CD sales worldwide.

• We can enhance and update your Facebook / Instagram and any other social media in order to build a bigger fan base. We also facilitate radio campaigns, tour promotion, poster design and circulation, as well as press generation.

• Create a targeted list and mail out CDs and email marketing blasts to members of our “general industry list”, which include thousands of key agents, promoters, A&R managers, independent journalists, film/TV music supervisors, radio programmers, and retailers here in the U.S. as well as overseas. Also, your music can be sent to a database of thousands of music fans, which we have built up over several years.

• Connect the label or artist with several companies who specifically advertise to film and TV. Also, we can connect you with companies that work in more specialized markets like instrumental placement or sports advertising. We are here to not only expand your fan base, but your business base as well.

• Make sure publishing and master rights are established correctly, and work to raise awareness of the artist within the performance rights organizations. We also have sub-publishers all around the world that we can work with to promote you on an international level.

• The ultimate goal is to provide you with the tools and knowledge necessary to successfully promote and manage an artist or label so that after a period of time you will have a customized business model that you will be able to run on your own.

The objective of our services are to engage you and your fans and help build your own larger market place and platform. We work in all areas we would as your management in order to increase your business and fan base, however it is done while leaving your rights with you as the copyright owner.

We do this by using my 40 years in the music industry, and the consequential contacts and background we’ve earned. We will, over the first year, expose your music to film, TV, advertising companies, radio, both internet and terrestrial, media (video outlets, press and bloggers etc.), promoters, retail, 3rd party record companies, and agents -‐ overseas and domestic. Marketing via Facebook and all other social media outlets on a weekly basis is also a must. Expansion of your fan base will also be achieved by introducing you to our fan base by the use of newsletters and email blasts, utilizing Funzalo’s mailing list which is always growing. Our general list covers over 15,000+ music fans, business partners and influential people all around the world.

Ultimately, we want to help focus your image and music and create something you’re happy with, but will be more marketable in different areas.

Building a greater distribution network for your music via our digital sales people is also essential. This makes export and national CD sales more achievable; through the distribution connections I’ve developed, I’ve found this to be the best for small companies and artists. In all, targeting and starting with the bottom line areas. We will set you up directly with the same distribution networks we use, which are in place both because of our label’s size and sales and many years of relationships and success. Some of these would be unreachable to smaller indie artists -‐ even those on other labels.

This will also bring your music to streaming and promotion services such as Spotify, Apple Music, Pandora, Sirius XM, and many more -‐ which we market alongside our digital partners, worldwide. Your music will go to massive lists of terrestrial radio, big and small (AAA), college and alternative, and all other formats.

In addition to the focus on digital distribution, we help you distribute physical CDs. Our distributor is a great place to start with the Indie CD Market. Generally we net more with less returns. The distributor gets your music out to stores in the correct markets for coverage, so if fans start asking for your music, we’ll be able to meet that demand.

We will also introduce your music to reputable music supervisors, responsible for majors and indies and some as small as a weddings, parties, and other events. We’ll distribute your music to companies that have aggregates with large retailers for in-‐store play -‐ we have made connections with Starbucks, Old Navy, Whole Foods and more. And in some cases, with a little luck, get placement on a store’s compilation album.

We’ll need to accrue instrumental versions, lyric sheets, metadata etc. for most of your music. The key is to leave no stones unturned. Large or small.

Since you still own all copyrights to your music, we can assist with publishing copyrights under your own company -‐ and make sure all Performing Rights Organizations like SESAC, ASCAP and BMI, in North America are setup to pay for all airplay and live dates. We will also assist with getting you an account with SoundExchange to help collect monies earned from digital plays.

We’ll start with your current CD and build from there. Some things that have worked for us are acoustic, instrumental, and live versions that can all be produced, if not already. We’ve had great success with live tracks and have produced digital and physical EPs for many artists. Sometimes releasing live EPs along with studio recordings every 3-4 months is an integral part of keeping fans engaged. By releasing more we increase your “musical footprint”.

We must focus and narrow cast all media and music on a style we all agree on to capture a bigger fan base. This includes current music videos and working with you and 3rd parties to create more content to feed video hosting sites such as YouTube. This also allows us to focus on the internet market to help your digital platforms grow (monetizing video plays and using fingerprint technology to direct people towards buying your album).

As much of this work begins and develops, we’ll be able to reach out and setup overseas interest and sales. Much of this is similar, such as finding possible licensing deals in different countries for direct sales and promotion. If overseas collection is needed, we have a Worldwide network of sub-publishers that can collect and market your music and songs. Ultimately, you will establish your own network of resources.

At the end of the day, we can help develop your live base by expanding your network in the surrounding states and in Europe where appropriate. Help find agents that might assist here and abroad.

You’ll keep all your rights and pay a monthly fee so when you get income from all sources, whether we are still working together or not, you’ll enjoy the benefit of all the hard work that your band and our company achieved. Approved direct expenses such as travel and postage shall be billed back. I’m sure there’s much more we can expand on and with lots of flexibility we can find more ideas to develop and explore your music and base. Working with you on the positive side of music will allow us to open up new doors and develop further. Now that you’ve made it this far, let’s speak and see if these ideas work for us and what we need to expand on to help.
